18hs – 22hs

Basement K18 – BC building

(Sandberg Instituut)

For our second event, we are thrilled to host the screening of Sisters with Transistors (2020), a documentary by Lisa Rovner featuring the story of pioneering women in electronic music. After the film we invite you to join us for drinks as a moment to meet in person and come together.

Sisters with Transistors (2020) maps a new history of electronic music through the visionary women whose radical experimentations with machines redefined the boundaries of music, including Clara Rockmore, Daphne Oram, Bebe Barron, Pauline Oliveros, Delia Derbyshire, Maryanne Amacher, Eliane Radigue, Wendy Carlos, Suzanne Ciani, and Laurie Spiegel.

With Laurie Anderson as a narrator, the film embarks on a fascinating journey through the evolution of electronic music, narrating the ways in which new devices opened music to the entire field of sound, changing the modes of production, and transforming the fundamental ways in which we think about music and sound.
